Portwell Cutting-Edge AI and Smart Logistics Innovations at Logis-Tech Tokyo 2024: Leading the Future of Sustainable Logistics
Asia’s largest logistics exhibition, Logis-Tech Tokyo 2024, is being held from September 10 to 13 at Tokyo Big Sight. The event, themed “Nurturing a Sustainable Path for the Future of Logistics,” has attracted over 580 companies, showcasing various innovative technologies, including automation systems and labor-saving solutions, to address labor shortages and the challenges of logistics transformation while enhancing sustainability.
At Logis-Tech Tokyo 2024, Portwell presented a series of innovative demonstrations that showcase their cutting-edge technologies. Visitors can experience the OCR technology that enables efficient text recognition, optimized for logistics applications. Additionally, an AI-powered face recognition system will be demonstrated, highlighting its use in security and access control. Lastly, Portwell will introduce an energy monitoring system designed for logistics facilities, offering solutions for energy-saving and environmental control. These demos exemplify Portwell’s commitment to advancing logistics technology.
As edge AI transformation of smart logistics has been a major trend in the industry, Portwell showcased its advanced AI face recognition system, which excels in recognizing faces and identifying individuals for security applications like access control. The demo leveraged Portwell’s WEBS-45J1-H8 as the central platform. This rugged, fanless embedded system, powered by 14th/13th/12th Generation Intel® Core™ processors and enhanced with the Hailo AI module, is optimized for AI computing tasks. With support for up to 96GB DDR5 DRAM, multiple display outputs, and extensive I/O options, the WEBS-45J1-H8 ensures reliable, real-time face recognition and individual identification in even the most demanding environments.
Portwell’s AI-enabled embedded boards and systems are ideal for various applications in the smart logistics market, especially transforming conventional warehouse operations. In traditional logistics, significant manpower is required, leading to high personnel costs and potential safety concerns. However, with smart logistics, robots now handle these tasks, operating non-stop to avoid collisions, find the shortest paths, and reduce labor-related injuries. Portwell’s embedded solutions, featuring low power consumption designs, extend robot operating times and utilize eMMC on board to prevent disruptions caused by warehouse vibrations. These systems also support the integration of essential sensors, including infrared for distance measurement, indoor Bluetooth for precise location tracking, and gyroscopes for movement control, all connected through USB interfaces. By leveraging Portwell’s edge AI technology, businesses can enhance efficiency, speed, and load management in their smart logistics operations, making their solutions more effective and reliable.
